About Us

The drive for setting up the University of Benin Consultancy Services Unit came with the government directive, through the National Universities Commission that all Universities should set up Faculty – Based Consultancy Services. Thus, the University Consultancy Services Unit was setup in 1978.

The Consultancy Services Unit of the University of Benin has at its disposal, the services of a large concentration of highly trained, scientific, technical, social, economic, and professional manpower of the variety and level not readily available to any single organization of any size in this country. The scope of services offered by this includes Engineering Design/Study and Technology Services, Pure and Applied Sciences and Pharmacy, and Educational Social and Cultural Services. Accounting/Finance, Economics and Statistics and Regional Planning; Urban Landscape Planning, Design and Construction, Surveys and Contract Management; Computer Systems Design Data Analysis, with applications to Banking, Accounting, Payroll and Personnel Management records as well as a management information system, Maritime Management Services and Biodiversity Conservation Management.

The aim of this profile is to bring to the attention of the public including corporate bodies, individuals, government, and other institutional establishments the range of Consultancy Services we render and the enviable array of experts at our disposal.

We realize that the primary function of the Universities is teaching, research and development, but this cannot be successfully accomplished in isolation from its other complementary functions. Apart from direct augmentation of the Federal Government subvention, the Consultancy Services Unit in the University aims at allowing the University academics and other experts to advance their professional and educational goals by bringing them into contact with practical problems for the mutual benefits of staff and students thereby fostering the much desired marriage between town and gown. It is quite clear that the incomes from this sources of the University activity will not in the immediate foreseeable future, replace the Federal Government subvention but its impact on the professional maturing of the academic staff, with consequent spill-over to students and the society at large will leave an indelible mark on the University system in particular and country as a whole.
On behalf of the University, I invite the government of the Federation, Industries, Commerce, Public Agencies and all Businesses to take full advantage of the resources, expertise and skilled assistance the Consultancy Services offers.


OUR PROCESS:

  1. Problem Identification: UNIBEN CONSULT LTD is interested in establishing the exact problem of the organization before proffering a solution to avoid a mismatch. Problem identification is achieved by spending one working day in the potential client’s environment to interact meaningfully with employees and management. This is to take inventory of the training needs of the staff and identify the strategic goals of the business, opportunities, strengths, and challenges.
  2. Developing Business-Specific Curriculum: Based on the result of the above analysis, UNIBEN CONSULT LTD develops employee-specific training packages to suit the organization. The modules are built around the specific needs of the employees and by extension, the business/institution instead of the usual generalist approach that is in vogue. Training is achieved through multi-dimensional strategies of personal individuals, surveys of employees, talk shop, workshops, business simulations and brainstorming scientific.
  3. Approval and implementation: The curriculum developed is delivered to management for imputes in the form of feedback which is integrated into the final document for implementation.
  4. Evaluation: All UNIBEN CONSULT LTD activities are inclusive of a tub-way evaluation process which flows from UNIBEN CONSULT LTD to the clients through individual assessment and testing of the employees and the client’s evaluation of the activities if UNIBEN CONSULT LTD against the global best practices.
